Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Student Pharmacy Technician serves as an essential personnel of the healthcare team assisting the pharmacist and/or medical teams in the care of the ambulatory and/or hospitalized patients.  The Student Pharmacy Technician performs all technical duties within their scope under the law to practice at the highest skill level of licensure. The Student Pharmacy Technician duties will correspond to the roles and responsibilities associated with their assigned care area – area may include hospital pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, or clinical pharmacy services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Maintains professional attitude and appearance at all times
•    Provides excellent direct and indirect customer service to people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds by following PRIDE standards using the AIDET process
•    Understands and consistently utilizes all information systems in their work area; consistently and accurately enters information/documentation into computer system
•    Maintains efficient work flow by analyzing and adapting to changes in volume and staffing, and utilizes downtime efficiently; provides cost-effective pharmaceutical care by appropriately using resources such as time, personnel, and supplies; optimizes time efficiently and effectively
•    Works with a sense of urgency to assist customers and encourages the same sense of urgency in others; resolves crisis situations in a calm, constructive, and professional manner
•    Maintains a clean, neat, and professional work area at all times; offers and implements suggestions to improve workflow, efficiency, and service
•    Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to provide patient-centered care; anticipates service needs and proactively resolves issues
•    Ensures constant state of readiness for The Joint Commission, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, Board of Health, and all other regulatory bodies, and suggests and implements process improvement throughout the department to assist in maintaining a constant state of readiness; consistently maintains compliance with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
•    Remains up-to-date on departmental processes by attending staff meetings, reviewing meeting minutes, and reading email communications
 

Job Requirements

•    Licenses/Certification required: Indiana issued Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Tech In-Training, or Pharmacy Intern License
•    Successful completion of Eskenazi Health Pharmacy Technician Training Program within 122-day probationary period (required for Pharmacy Tech In-Training license only).
