At Eskenazi Health’s Legacy House, we are committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors and their families. We are seeking a dedicated Trauma Counselor to support clients impacted by trauma, ensuring they receive advocacy, therapeutic interventions, and resources to promote healing and recovery. This position is responsible for providing information and training to community partners and to the general public through community outreach.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
- Meet with clients and families to assess needs related to trauma and care coordination.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to develop individualized care plans.
- Manage a caseload of clients, identifying therapeutic, advocacy, and care needs while engaging team support.
- Assist with applications for orders of protection and provide court support for clients.
- Facilitate individual, family, and group advocacy and therapeutic interventions.
- Provide victim advocacy and connect clients to essential services and community resources.
- Regularly evaluate progress, update care plans, and document activities accurately in electronic records.
- Serve as an advocate for clients and act as a resource for external agencies through consultation and education.
- Continously evaluates clients' mental status and trauma-recovery needs, reporting progress to the team and treating psychiatrist, if applicable.
- Attends court or other legal meetings and provides support for clients who testify or attend court hearings.
- Coach and mentor interns or staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mental health setting.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), LMHC, or LMFT required.
