Job Role Summary
The Training & Compliance Specialist designs, implements, and manages training programs to enhance employee understanding and ensure the corporation's compliance with safety regulations.
Day in Life:
Your day will include overseeing departmental training operations by conducting both in-person and virtual sessions. You will engage with staff across various organizational levels to assess training needs, evaluate training effectiveness, and ensure regulatory requirements are met. Additionally, you will perform compliance audits.
Essential Duties
Training Development & Coordination (80%)
- Oversee operations related to training program implementation and growth.
- Develop and revise instructional materials using tools like PowerPoint and Rise 360.
- Manage HealthStream Learning Management System (LMS) courses, assignments, and certifications.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive training calendar to meet minimum training requirements.
- Coordinate assignments for OSHA-required courses and communicate updates with relevant teams.
- Formulate training outlines, monitor activities, and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Lead both live and virtual training sessions, providing consultation on training needs.
- Administer and manage specialized training programs.
Compliance and Monitoring (20%)
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met regarding training course documentation and record retention.
- Collaborate with management to identify and prioritize training needs.
- Conduct safety inspections and participate in oral and written communications regarding compliance standards.
- Contribute to public health emergency preparedness exercises and responses as directed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and assist in updating policies and procedures.
Associated Job Duties
- Maintain and update department content and regulatory information.
- Enhance staff awareness through communication initiatives.
- Participate in the Safety Committee and act as EHS representative for corporate activities.
- Ensure compliance with training and conduct safety inspections.
- Support the EHS Manager with safety program analysis and emergency preparedness.
- Cross-train with other staff.
- Perform on call functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Management, Education, Business Administration, Public Health, Public Affairs or closely related field.
Experience
-
- 1-3 years of experience with EHS programs or related fields.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
Licenses/Certifications Required
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain HAZWOPER, OSHA 30-Hour, CPR instructor and Stop the Bleed certifications within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of adult education principles and instructional design.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging various stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to manage data and support regulatory compliance efforts.
Working Environment
- Work primarily in an office setting with hybrid opportunities as permitted.
- Responsibilities include indoor and outdoor activities, requiring mobility and the ability to lift light materials.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions.
- Occasional travel may be required
