Job Role Summary
Provides coordination for the labs while working in collaboration with the charge nurse and rad techs. Optimizing care for patient by looking ahead of schedules in preparation and planning for cases, ensuring that there are proper equipment, supplies, and coordination of care is completed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Coordinates all aspects of the specified service line of care for a similar patient population of high acuity patients of all ages within the MIPS department
- Performs all functions of a Staff Nurse II
- Functions independently as a practitioner, demonstrating superior problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
- Coordinates and makes available specialty equipment/supplies for each procedure by reviewing the MIPS schedule in advance and working with vendors, Nurse Coordinator and the Rad Techs.
- Continually communicates effectively with the Scheduler/Coordinators, Managers, Charge Nurse, Material Manager, Biomed, and staff regarding special needs for procedures within the specialty
- Develops a core curriculum, in conjunction with the Clinical Educator, for the Service Line, and oversees orientation of new staff in specified Service Line/Lab Suite
- Assists in working with the charge nurse on daily assignments to ensure that competent, trained employees are assigned to procedures within the specified Service Line/Lab suite
- Is a resource to all employees for Service Line and is available by pager/phone to answer questions
- Maintains patient and family confidentiality
- Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations
- Supervises RNs, Rad techs, care techs, and students
Associated Job Duties
- Oversees employees and helps assess educational needs and opportunities
- Oversees maintenance and inventory of supplies, instruments, implants, and equipment for specified Service Line in collaboration with the Rad techs
- Updates and evaluates instrument sets and preference cards for procedures in collaboration with staff and physicians
- Looks for cost saving measures by standardization in collaboration with other Service Line Coordinators
- Participates on teams as delegated
- Pursues educational and other professional growth opportunities pertinent to clinical specialty area
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned
- Ability to take call for the cath lab/IR labs

Job Requirements
• Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse
• RN degree from a nationally accredited college or university
• Current BLS certification; other certifications may be required in specific units to practice
- Advanced skills in nursing practice especially in specified Service Line
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Effective problem-solving techniques, critical thinking skills, and decision-making skills
- Positive attitude and team player
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice in Minimally Invasive Procedural Areas
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- CCRN, RCES, CRN, CV-BC strongly encouraged
