Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
The Team Lead will assist in prioritizing and delegating tasks, monitor daily work queue completion, training, and first point of contact for staff when assistance is needed. They will work with work with physicians, other departments, and customers for: medical record chart corrections, completing medical record deficiencies, closing encounters within the EHR, and resolving dictation and transcription issues and concerns.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Works directly with staff to cross train and provides current and backup support to all Chart Completion and Chart Corrections (Identity) tasks and processes to ensure workload is maintained daily and in compliance with Joint Commission, Hospital policy, and other regulatory standards.
- Facilitates the physician privilege suspension process which includes contacting and/or sending notifications not only to the appropriate provider but others such as their Service Chiefs, Office Coordinators, and Medical Staff Office, etc.
- Assists providers with individual provider training as requested.
- Monitors, coordinates planning, and communicates daily with the entire Chart Completion and Chart Corrections (Identity) team the daily workloads (queues) that need to be completed especially when staff are on PTO.
- Acts as the first point of contact for with questions related to chart completion, chart corrections, and transcription system.
- Participates in the 24/7 on call coverage/support for chart corrections (Identity).
- Participates in management of the HIM help desk support “ticket” system.
- Acts as a liaison between HIM and IT for the physician community to help resolve any technical issues that may affect timely completion of medical record documents
- Provides reports from EPIC as requested by physicians and other staff members.
- Proactively initiates and provides crucial feedback to enhance development and performance improvement of workflow, processes, training, and staff support; monitored through metrics /others feedback
- Meets departmental standards of quality, productivity, and accuracy.
- Trains new and existing team members on departmental work flows and processes as needed.
- Completes new projects and tasks as assigned.
- Assists in developing and updating tips sheets and policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
- Four years of experience working with medical records in acute care hospital setting performing responsibilities related to chart analysis, physician support, transcription, and chart corrections (Identity).
- Prior experience coordinating HIM process operations required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with information systems used at Eskenazi Health, including but not limited to: EPIC and Fluency Manager Transcription system preferred
- Proficiency in use of MS Windows workstation; proficiency in MS Word for written correspondence
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
- Ability to work as an effective team member
- Ability to prioritize the daily workload and delegate as needed
- Ability to present information to groups of physicians and individuals
- Knowledge of medical record forms and chart organization
- Knowledge of medical terminology
