Job Role Summary
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring of client care. Responsible for evaluating the options and services required to meet an individual's health needs using communication and available resources to promote quality, cost-effective outcomes. Responsible for managing services for the individual diagnosed with or suspected of having TB or latent TB infection, from initiation to completion of treatment, change in diagnosis, or death. Responsible for inventory management and staffing the TB TARC clinic.
Associated Job Duties
- Serve on appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
- Trained at the appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) level
- Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises and in the response to public health emergencies, as directed
- Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing from a National League for Nursing accredited program with emphasis on epidemiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, statistics, or related courses. Master's degree in public health nursing, public health, or epidemiology encouraged.
- 3 years of experience as a professional nurse, including at least one year of hospital practice and 2 years of practice in a public health setting with case (progressive) management responsibilities.
- Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations.
- Experience in creating and generating data sets and reports for epidemiological use preferred.
- Experience working in TB or infectious disease clinic preferred.
Licenses/Certifications Required
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing from a National League for Nursing accredited program with emphasis on epidemiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, statistics, or related courses.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Able to compile pertinent information and prepare and present oral and written technical reports to all levels of the organization and the general public.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Data management analysis.
- Basic statistical methods.
- Demonstrate accuracy in interpreting/presenting data
- Has the ability to prioritize work and the flexibility to respond to frequent crisis situations related to disease containment and control
- Able to anticipate potential problems in order to intervene with appropriate corrective and/or adaptive measures
- Able to interpret laboratory data
- Knowledge of: disease etiology/treatment modalities, public health principles/concepts, local/State/Federal laws, regulations concerning communicable diseases, community resources
- Able to work under pressure of deadlines and respond to immediate needs of communicable disease prevention/containment activities
- May be required to perform physical activities associated with provision of nursing care in conjunction with disease prevention/containment activities
