Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Systems Engineer II is responsible for providing Exchange Administration (online and onPrem), Office 365 and InTune device management support, Windows Servers, Active Directory, DNS and WSUS administration and provides generalized systems engineering by participating in and solving business problems and/or predicting and preventing system failures, supporting business services and processes of the organization.

The successful Engineering Analyst II demonstrates passion for technology and developing business solutions in the following ways: strongly adhering to industry standards and continuing education, undergoing detailed configuration and methodology reviews to ensure delivery of the highest quality solutions, and contributing to the successful accomplishment of the primary mission and continued success of Eskenazi Health. This position supports the Engineer Analysts and Senior Engineers' efforts to deliver solutions which meet detailed needs and requirements intended to satisfy documented, and or perceived, business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a technical resource, and ensures proper operations with regard to network architecture, planning, implementation, maintenance and problem resolution for all data resources within Eskenazi Health. Maintains and applies best practices for data resources
  • Performs systems and/or network designs as requested or required
  • Participates in planning, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of all data resources
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral training presentations to personnel at all organizational levels as required to explain functionality of data resources
  • Examines/monitors all data resources to determine whether the business needs of the institution are being met, and plans or recommends system changes/expansion based on this information. Prepares reports on utilization and performance of all systems, networks and data resources
  • Develops systems, networks or data resource upgrade pathways
  • Creates and maintains all system, network or data resource documentation. Responsible for day-to-day operational activities of all systems, networks and data resources. Serves as primary technical resource and contact for security and access standards for requisite assigned engineering areas
  • Maintains daily logs concerning any variations of systems, networks and data resources
  • Communicates with other Information Services staff and management regarding all technical aspects of data resources
  • Works with peer organizations as technical expert on interoperation of all applicable data resources
  • Works with technical vendor resources to achieve assigned goals regarding all engineering aspects of data resources
  • Ensures planning, timely execution and proper resourcing of all project level work as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or a minimum of five years varied/related experience in a hospital or large institution data processing environment may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements
  • Relevant certifications/training, experience for areas of technical responsibility (e.g. A+/Net+, MCSE/MCSA, CCNA/CCDP/CCIE, CNE, PMI/PMP, CCSA, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated intermediate project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications and server technologies
  • Additional advanced skills in two or more of the following areas: Unix Administration, Cisco Networking/Network Infrastructure And Design, Web Development/Administration, Application Development, Enterprise Messaging, Database Administration, Citrix Administration, Novell Administration, Alpha/OpenVMS Technology, Storage/Information Lifecycle Management, Information Security Design, Telecommunications or an area defined by IT Services Management
  • Knowledge of set-up, operation and control of data processing equipment
  • Knowledge of shared systems techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of project management techniques, methods and best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of data processing
  • Knowledge of advanced systems design and planning
  • Ability to operate varied computer equipment
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with departmental personnel and all levels of personnel throughout the organization
  • Ability to achieve accurate, established deadlines and production levels
  • Ability to review production for accuracy
