Job Role Summary
The Surgery Supply Coordinator handles all facets relating to the receipt and distribution of surgical supplies, equipment and other services for Surgery and Anesthesia. This cross functional position works closely with the following Departments: Purchasing, Receiving and Distribution and Perioperative Services in reconciling questions related to the ordering and receipt of surgical products and services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- • Serves as a Lead, Subject Matter Expert in handling all facets relating to the receipt and distribution of highly specialized surgical supplies, equipment and other services for Surgery and Anesthesia
• Creates requisitions and maintains required documentation relating to non-stock orders and receipts
• Processes JIT orders as required
• Coordinates and communicates required actions to key Perioperative Services clinical staff on material backorders
• Maintains and manages stock availability within Main OR Supply areas to include clinical specialty carts
• Works closely with the Purchasing, Receiving and Distribution and Perioperative Services in reconciling questions related to ordering and receipt of surgical products and services
• Serves as a lead customer service liaison for non-stock surgical supply related issues, MOR service specialty lines team leads and Supply Chain personnel
• Manages surgical supply discrepancies, return programs and maintains related clinical documentation
• Monitors material consumption and makes recommendations to Manager for PAR level adjustments
• Follows established procedures related to the receiving and documentation of items in the Tissue Log
• Prepares related supply documentation for review by Manager
• Manages surgical material recalls, working closely with Clinical Surgery Specialty team leads
• Assists in training new employees.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Minimum of three years of inventory experience including purchasing, inventory, receiving of supplies; minimum of two years of experience working in a Surgical Supply or a Surgical Operating setting
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, healthcare management or related field may be accepted in lieu of experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of computerized on-line inventory management systems
- Able to work independent of direct supervision and manage multiple tasks at once
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to conduct meetings with vendors
