Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Pulmonary Physiology Lab Technologist Supervisor is responsible for all of the certifications, licensure, and duties of the Pulmonary Physiology Lab Technologist. The supervisor serves as a resource to all disciplines in Pulmonary Physiology Lab (PPL) procedures. This position assists in the development and implementation of competencies, staff development, education, supervision and performance appraisals. The supervisor is required to regularly communicate with departmental leadership and assist with the development of monthly departmental meetings. This position proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Provides input for performance appraisals of Pulmonary Physiology Lab employees
•    Supervises Pulmonary Physiology Lab technologists in coordination with departmental leadership, makes decisions and is responsible for personnel issues (supervision, discipline, hiring, etc.), and patient concerns/questions regarding clinic and Eskenazi Health
•    Conducts regular meetings with staff to provide updates, standardize procedures and protocols, and exchange information
•    Conducts monthly rounding on employees in PPL
•    Orders and maintains supplies for assigned area
•    Provides quarterly journal articles to Pulmonary Physiology Lab staff for continuing education
•    Maintains all documentation of all communication
•    Develops and implements staff competencies and education in conjunction with departmental leadership
•    Assists in development of staff in-services
•    Assists and participates in in PI/QA for the Pulmonary Physiology Lab
•    Serves as a resource to coworkers and all disciplines within the organization
•    Calibrates, utilizes, troubleshoots, and maintains all equipment in assigned areas
•    Provides indicated patient education needed
•    Ensures completion and quality of testing in accordance with ATS standards
•    Assists in coordination and participation of new employee instruction and orientation
•    Continuously monitors patient scheduling for optimization of patient throughput
 

Job Requirements

•    Graduate from an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
•    Five years of clinical experience required
•    Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Indiana
•    Credentialed as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) by the NBRC
•    Current ALS or ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS credentials
