Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist coordinates and manages all aspects of sourcing and purchasing for assigned departments per policy.  This position coordinates with Department Heads and Legal in leading negotiations that develop contracts containing appropriate language that protects Eskenazi Health, supports cost controlling/savings goals, provides for continuous process improvements and vendor diversity inclusions.  The Strategic Sourcing Specialist proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission:   Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.  Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence (PRIDE).  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Contract Management
Manage supplier/vendor/partner contract lifecycles, including negotiations, pricing structures, and delivery of various contracts covering a range of transactions
o    Monitor contract utilization and compliance
o    Manage expiring/renewing contracts using contract management system 
o    Evaluate and implement Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) standardization programs

Value Analysis
Supports value analysis process by providing product or service analysis, cost comparison, industry benchmarking, contract development if needed and product change coordination to help reach established savings goals including Supporting the coordination of implementation of new or changed product/services when necessary

RFx Development:
•    Coordinates the development of RFP/RFI/RFQ including:
o    Coordinating communication between supplier and end user
o    Assembling an appropriate cross-functional team
o    Coordinate with Manager Supply Chain Strategic Analyst to evaluate responses
o    Coordinating evaluations and/ or supplier presentations
o    Benchmark pricing and analyze quotes and proposals

Supplier Development:
•    Coordinates regularly scheduled business reviews with key suppliers
•    In coordination with department heads, develops service level benchmarks
•    Monitors supplier service levels
•    Conducts supplier and program rebate audits
•    Supports Diversity Inclusion initiative
 

Job Requirements

•    B.S. degree in business or related field, plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience with contracting in a Purchasing environment or Supply Chain Management
•    Purchasing certification (C.P.M., CRPM, CPSM) preferred but not required 
•    Paralegal experience and/or health care experience a plus
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Regular departmental personnel contacts to develop specifications and advise of product alternative
•    Frequent contacts with suppliers to obtain price/product/delivery, specifications and to obtain service, or adjustments
•    Contacts with Leadership, Managers, Directors, and Vice-Presidents in the execution of contractual negotiations
•    Knowledge of advanced purchasing principles/practices 
•    Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
•    Ability to coordinate and organize multiple tasks and projects at once
•    Mathematic and quantitative skills to analyze prices, budgets and inventory
•    Ability to create, use and analyze spreadsheets
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Hands on experience of using Microsoft Office Suite
