Job Role Summary
Help Keep Our Food Service Operations Running Smoothly
Are you someone who takes pride in staying organized, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting a team behind the scenes? We're looking for a dependable Steward (PRN) to join our Food & Nutrition Services team.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring a safe, sanitary, and efficient food service operation that directly supports patients, visitors, and hospital staff. From maintaining cleanliness and managing inventory to receiving deliveries and supporting meal service, your work helps create a positive experience for everyone we serve.
This PRN (as-needed) position offers flexibility while providing the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven healthcare organization.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
What You'll Do
As a Steward, you will:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dish room by washing, sanitizing, and storing dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
- Receive and inspect deliveries, verify invoices, and report any damaged or missing items.
- Rotate inventory according to First In, First Out (FIFO) guidelines and monitor products for expiration dates.
- Stock kitchenware, utensils, dishes, glassware, and service equipment in designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout storage areas, including walk-in coolers, freezers, dry storage rooms, racks, walls, and floors.
- Remove trash and assist with maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment according to established guidelines.
- Support food service operations by assisting with inventory, stocking, and supply organization.
- Retrieve dishes and service items from patient care areas and catered events.
- Deliver patient meal trays while adhering to regulatory requirements, including proper hand hygiene and patient identification procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and team members.
- Assist coworkers and support smooth daily department operations as needed.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in food service, hospitality, warehousing, receiving, or a related service environment.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and inventory.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
