Opportunity Overview:

As a Short-Term Assignment RN, you will be onboarded to Eskenazi Health to fill a temporary commitment; the area you are assigned to will be based on your recent nursing experience.  This allows you the comfortability of working in a familiar environment while simultaneously learning more about the culture of Eskenazi Health and our opportunities.  The Short-Term Assignment RN will have the opportunity to gain and continue to broaden their nursing practice through exposure to a variety of clinical specialties and offered at Eskenazi Health including: orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, palliative care, neurology, trauma, medicine, renal, urology, pulmonology, infectious disease, and more.

The Short-Term Assignment RN provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served. This includes understanding the patients served in the unit(s). Nursing care is delivered using the Eskenazi Health Model of Care-Synergy—the ability to coordinate with the patient and family/loved ones and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to meet patient care needs. Our nurses also proactively contribute to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with a special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County while modeling Eskenazi Health values.

What You Can Expect and Schedule:

The current openings are for Acuity Adaptable, Critical Care, NICU, and Family Beginnings. Each opening is a 36 hour per week position requiring a 13-week commitment.  Scheduled work days are varied based on each opening as are the shifts available.  Based on your experience, you may be required to float to another area to meet hospital staffing needs; this includes but is not limited to MICU, SICU, IICU, Acuity Adaptable, Burn, Family Beginnings, or NICU.  This position consists of 1-2 weeks of orientation which include hospital and unit-specific training.  Most departments require 4 full shifts of unit-based training for the RN to practice independently.

Due to our high acuity, team members in this role can anticipate caring for and learning more about various populations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  Here at Eskenazi Health, we strive to offer nurse to patient ratios that allow for safe and effective care that stem from Evidence-Based Practice.  The Short-Term Assignment RN can anticipate the following:
