Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Senior HVAC/BAS Controls Technician will perform HVAC control systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance as it is related to mechanical, electrical, and low voltage controls components.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Programming, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial Building Automation System equipment 
•    Identify and implement BAS energy and performance improvements through verification of designed instrumentation, and sequences of operation with little or no oversight.
•    Perform calibration testing and repairs on conventional and complex, state of the art electronic, electrical, and pneumatic control systems, instruments, meters, and recorders.
•    Obtain building automation system trend data to identify system improvements.
•    Review alarms and alarm profiles on a consistent basis
•    Maintain a variety of HVAC equipment by inspecting for signs of wear (maladjustment, miscalibration, malfunction and drift). 
•    Determine parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
•    Participate in design of new spaces to ensure specifications meet Eskenazi Health operational standards
•    Participate in construction monitoring of installations to verify project meets construction documents and specifications
•    Support HVAC Field Technicians and other staff by providing technical assistance and offering guidance including training. Develop training manuals as needed for operational efficiency and safety.
•    Responsible for monitoring the operation and run times of heating, ventilating and cooling systems.
•    Responsible for preventative maintenance on Building Automation Systems and other HVAC and Refrigeration Equipment
•    Record all work performed and time spent on activities in the work order system
•    Keep customers updated on progress of repairs and new initiatives
•    Maintain competency equal to the current trade related operating systems and Building Automation System software programs. 
•    Execute company sponsored as well as personally initiated training to ensure the highest level of knowledge, capability, and certifications are maintained
•    Load Metasys field and network level controller software or other systems as applicable to Eskenazi Health properties
•    Serve on-call as required
•    Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training.
 

Job Requirements

•    Valid Indiana Driver’s License
•    Must possess certifications in at least two (2) BAS platforms
•    Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School and/or ten (10) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Strong understanding of IT, server functionality, and installing software
•    Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequence and applications
•    Demonstrated technical aptitude in mechanical and electro-mechanical fields
•    Attention to detail.
•    Good communication and listening skills.
•    Able to use hand, power tools and electrical testing equipment such as a multi meter.
•    Knowledge of Joint Commission, State Board of Health and N.F.P.A. regulations
•    Must have organizational abilities
•    Working knowledge of Temperature Monitoring Systems such as TempTrak 
•    Advanced knowledge of building automation systems such as Metasys
•    Basic knowledge of lighting controls and fire alarm systems 
•    Ability to read architectural and engineering construction documents
•    Ability to adapt to new technology
•    Ability to teach staff on related systems and tasks
