Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Senior Analyst plays a critical role in strengthening the hospital’s financial performance by identifying, analyzing, and executing opportunities to improve revenue capture, enhance collections, reduce leakage, and optimize reimbursement. This role partners closely with Revenue Cycle leadership, Finance, Clinical Operations, and IT to ensure accurate charging, efficient workflows, and financially sound decision-making across the organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Analyze end-to-end revenue cycle processes (patient access, coding, charge capture, billing, A/R, denials, and collections) to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives to improve clean claim rates, reduce denials, enhance A/R performance, and streamline workflows.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on revenue leakage and implement corrective action plans.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast revenue, evaluate reimbursement trends, and quantify improvement opportunities.
  • Measure the financial impact of operational changes and revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Monitor charge capture accuracy and completeness to prevent underbilling or missed charges.
  • Partner with clinical and operational departments to ensure documentation supports appropriate reimbursement.
  • Identify systemic issues affecting revenue accuracy and work with IT/EMR teams to correct them.
  • Build dashboards and automated reports that track KPIs such as cash collections, DNFB, denial rates, A/R aging, and net revenue performance.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Present monthly and quarterly revenue cycle performance to executives and departmental leaders.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle, finance, compliance, and clinical teams to align priorities and ensure seamless execution of initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary task forces focused on financial improvement.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred, or 5+ years of similar work experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in hospital revenue cycle, healthcare finance, reimbursement analysis, or hospital operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of payer rules, reimbursement methodologies (DRG, APC, RBRVS), and revenue cycle operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills: experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, EPIC reporting tools) strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives and drive measurable financial results.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
