Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
The Senior Project Manager, Facilities Planning Management is responsible and accountable for the effective planning, performance and implementation of new construction and renovation projects, and coordinates facility management efforts in such a manner that existing functions are properly located and documented. The individual in this position shall cooperate, communicate and resolve to function under the leadership of the Director, Facilities Planning & Management, and in concert with the Director, Facilities Operations and Manager, Facilities Quality Control (Facilities Managers) to assure the continued safe use and functioning of all Eskenazi Health facilities, with a focus on transforming all facilities to support safe, efficient and effective patient care and staff work environments that achieve regulatory, quality, financial and operational management goals as may be established. The Senior Project Manager will report to and support the Director of Facilities Planning & Management with supervisory responsibilities and have full project management responsibility for design and construction efforts to which he/she is assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Acts with honor and integrity that is congruent with our mission statement; Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve"Rounds for Outcomes" with key customers to build and maintain effective and healthy work relationships; staff, physicians, external vendors and partners, senior leadersAssists in management of facility space utilizationAssists in creation or updating of the Master Facility Plan and implements facilities projects in support of operations consistent with the health system's current and future needsInitiates space program requirements and project specifications in order to specify materials/equipment for solicitation of competitive bids and/or successfully negotiate sameAids in preparation of reports on construction progress, project financial performance, and construction related performances as requiredStays informed of new developments in health care facilities, equipment, construction methods and materialsExpresses effective verbal and written communication skills essential for effective communication with all levels of the organization and outside vendors for contracted servicesInterfaces with vendors, contractors, architects, consultants pertaining to facilities equipment and materials, and with state/city agencies, Joint Commission and Indiana State Department of Health for regulatory complianceDemonstrates ability to recognize and support successes; both large and small, individual and groupWorks with the Facilities' staff to objectively investigate all service complaints and provides appropriate assistanceAttends meeting and serves on committees as assigned in support of operations which may be internal to the organization or external in the communityAssists in resolving all problems concerning design/construction/maintenance projects Endeavors to include quality, performance improvement and regulatory understanding and readiness in all actions relative to facilities planning and management. Provides appropriate oversight of standards, policies, protocols, and proceduresSecures a safe environment for patients and staff alike and works with Facilities to assure appropriate compliance with building codes, proactive infection prevention regulations, and the requirements of regulatory agenciesAssists in cooperation with the Manager(s) of facilities and departments in assuring compliance with all occupational safety, health and property conservation policiesVisits construction sites to assure performance of planning, quality, safety and scheduled completion purposesEndeavors to maximally create and encourage sustainable environmentsAssists in approval process of all impairments required by projects for which this individual has responsibilityAssumes responsibility for the development and expenditure of financial resources for any design and construction projects, including operating funds, philanthropic sources, bond issues, grants; accountable for expenses, contractual obligations, invoicing and billing approval for all projectsFosters a collaborative work environment in which those engaged in project efforts can freely and openly communicate needs and requirementsEngages project teams in achieving the organizational goals through effective communicationEncourages a spirit of team within the department and organizationProvides regular project feedback to departmental managementSupports the team with all jurisdiction review authorities, including assurance of compliance with all jurisdiction requirements
Job Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's with seven years' experience in interior design, architecture or construction management preferred OR in lieu of degreeA minimum of ten years' experience in project development, design or construction with a minimum of seven years in a health care environment, and demonstrated responsibilities acting as the Owner
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to apply architecture and engineering principles in order to create facilities in concert with Hospital's goals and objectivesPossesses knowledge of design/construction, techniques/scheduling, construction/purchasing law, and health care related building codes and regulationsFluent in AutoCad, Revit, and/or other appropriate graphic devices for a minimum of two years to illustrate intent of project requirements in graphic formDemonstrates a high level of problem-solving skills and decision-making processesDemonstrates understanding of the customer service concept; applies to personal practice, ensures patient & physician satisfaction data is reviewed with department on a consistent basis and that improvements are part of the department's quality planDemonstrates knowledge of hospital/health system safety and proactive infection prevention and control policies and procedures that helps maintain a safe patient care environmentAbility to make qualitative decisions in emergency situations relating to hospital procedures and interestsDemonstrates knowledge/good understanding of basic accounting principles relative to project budget review and performance
