Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Senior Engineer Analyst I is expected to have expert-level knowledge of Active Directory and associated components (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, ADFS, LDAP, CA), in addition to sophisticated troubleshooting skills and ability to solve complex problems. They must be proficient in developing complex PowerShell scripts and possess strong capabilities for generalized systems engineering and architecture/design. They must have a comprehensive understanding of server virtualization, generalized networking (Vlans, DMZ, NAT/PAT, etc.) and good backup practices. Experience administering M365 and associated technologies is preferred.

This role is responsible for providing support, thought leadership and assistance to more junior engineers to solve business problems and/or predict and prevent system failures, as well as support business service delivery and the processes of the organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health values
  • Serves as a technical resource and ensures proper operations with regard to network architecture, planning, implementation, maintenance and problem resolution for all data resources within Eskenazi Health; defines, maintains and applies best practices for data resources
  • Performs systems and/or network designs as requested or required
  • Participates in planning, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of all data resources
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral training presentations to personnel at all organizational levels as required to explain functionality of data resources
  • Examines and monitors all data resources to determine whether the business needs of the institution are being met, and plans or recommends system changes/expansion based on this information; prepares reports on utilization and performance of all systems, networks and data resources
  • Develops systems, networks or data resource upgrade pathways
  • Creates and maintains all system, network or data resource documentation; responsible for day-to-day operational activities of all systems, networks and data resources; serves as primary technical resource and contact for security and access standards for requisite assigned engineering areas
  • Maintains daily logs concerning any variations of systems, networks and data resources
  • Communicates with other Information Services staff and management regarding all technical aspects of data resources
  • Works with peer organizations as technical expert on interoperation of all applicable data resources
  • Works with technical vendor resources to achieve assigned goals regarding all engineering aspects of data resources
  • Participates as member of Tier III in 7x24 after hours on call rotation
  • Ensures planning, timely execution and proper resourcing of all project level work as assigned, including acting in a project manager capacity for medium to large technical projects
  • Consistently demonstrates strong ability to multi-task

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or a minimum of seven years varied/related experience in a hospital or large institution data processing environment may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements
  • Relevant certifications/training, experience for areas of technical responsibility (e.g. A+/Net+, MCSE/MCSA, CCNA/CCDP/CCIE, CNE, PMI/PMP, CCSA, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated advanced project management skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate business analysis skills
  • Demonstrated efficiencies with Information Lifecycle Management
  • Advanced specialization in Microsoft domain, operating systems and server technologies, or the Unix equivalent
  • Additional advanced skills in two or more areas including: Windows Operating System Administration, Unix Administration, Active Directory design and support, Group Policy design and administration, DFS Administration, DHCP and DNS Administration, Citrix Administration, Advanced scripting in any one of the following: PowerShell, Perl, JavaScript, Unix shell scripting (ksh, csh, bash, sh, etc.), Information Security Design, Telecommunications or an area defined by IT Services Management
  • Knowledge of set-up, operation and control of data processing equipment
  • Knowledge of shared systems techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of project management techniques, methods and best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of data processing
  • Knowledge of advanced systems design and planning
  • Ability to operate varied computer equipment
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with departmental personnel and all levels of personnel throughout the organization
