Job Role Summary
The intern will serve the Health and Hospital Corporation/MCPHD Security department for the Spring Semester 2025 (January to May 2025). The Law Enforcement and Security Officers of the Security department play a crucial role in delivering day-to-day services across all facilities owned or leased by the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC) and the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD). Security personnel also extend their services to cover events supported or hosted by HHC/MCPHD. These events include mass vaccination clinics, health fairs, classes for the public, special functions for employees and many others.
Essential Duties
- Observe daily operations of patrol personnel (i.e. patrols of corporation owned properties, responding to calls for service, traffic stops, etc.).
- Observe and assist with dispatching duties (i.e. taking phone calls from internal and external sources requesting security assistance, monitoring camera equipment and access control software, inputting information into the Computer Aided Dispatch software, etc.).
- Assist with Security duties during new hire orientations (issuing new employee credentials, granting access to areas within corporation, present Security topics to new hires, etc.).
- Assist in coordinating work with various Security vendors (surveillance cameras, security alarms, access control, etc.).
- Assist in representing the Security Department at various types of community events.
- Assist in compiling reports and statistics of daily Security operations and calls for service.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Public Safety/Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice related majorEducation/Experience:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with computer and technology usage (i.e. two-way radios, Microsoft Suites, WebEx, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively with accuracy, under pressure of constant deadlines, to make decisions, and provide positive support.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to high stress situations.
