Job Role Summary
The Quality Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, measuring, and analyzing activities associated with the Quality Management Program. This position requires extensive experience with quality assurance/quality improvement, data governance, large scale project management and the skillset to train and guide team members.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi values of P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence)
• Responsible for development, implementation, monitoring and effectiveness analysis of appropriate methods of quality assessment/assurance and quality improvement projects and activities as part of the Quality Management Program
• Interacts with all internal and external customers in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with our Core Values philosophy
• Participates in implementation of the annual Primary Care Quality Program, acts as a guide to quality team members as they work through work plan items and offers recommendations to manager for the planning of the annual program
• Lead team members and organization through assigned programs or projects (ex: HEDIS, PCMH, pay for performance) including teaching teammates program elements, managing program timelines, implementing strategies, and identifying effectiveness
• Point person for all clinical quality measures and best practices, develops reporting to support sustainability, updates and distributes best practice guide, and is knowledgeable in discreet data areas and coding associated with all quality measures and associated best practices
• Develops materials and communications to assist with implementation of the quality program including but not limited to culturally and language sensitive patient materials, newsletters, Sharepoint page, posters, audit tools, visual aids, presentations, and workflows
• Coordinates and conducts formal presentations and trainings for various levels in the organization and externally. Presents to QI Committee and leadership routinely.
• Leads medical record reviews and quality control reviews including the participation in the data collection process for HEDIS and other performance measures and on-going audits to ensure data integrity and identify opportunities for improvement. Develops auditing tools and trains others on how to utilize tools effectively
• Leads teams through formal process improvement (PDSAs, LSS, DMAIC, SMART, etc) and develops tools to assist with data driven decision making, identify trends and areas of opportunity, adjusts projects/programs based on data analysis.
• Facilitates committee meetings including site level, organizational and cross-departmental meetings
• Participates in site visits and audit requests, ensures on-going compliance with regulatory standards (ex: HRSA, FSSA)
• Responsible for development, implementation and adherence to the data governance process and ensures data integrity, validation, quality assurance and policy adherence related to the abstraction, storage, utilization, and analysis to ensure accuracy of information related to quality programs
• Responsible for training and mentoring all interns, volunteers, and scholars.
• Actively seeks input from team members, works to identify activities of teammates to ensure aligned messaging and best uses of resources
Job Requirements
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred or a minimum of 4 years working in the healthcare quality sector
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business-related field required
• Certification required: Lean Six Sigma (Green, Black, Master Black or Champion belt) or Lean Practitioner required
• Cross functional project management experience of 3 years required
• Healthcare quality improvement experience of 4 years required
• Experience with Medicaid Managed Care, HEDIS, CMS and Quality incentive programs preferred
• Valid driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Minimum of four years’ leading formal quality improvement projects and facilitating organizational level projects required
• Minimum of two years’ experience with data analysis, auditing, managed care entities and project management required
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills and effectively communicates with all internal and external customers of all titles including executive and health center leadership
• Ability to effectively coach and mentor others in quality improvement, data governance and project management
• Ability to establish and maintain credibility and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
