Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Pharmacy Procurement Supervisor is responsible for goods and services procurement for the Department of Pharmacy through the application of accepted purchasing practice and procedures.  This position assists with continuous quality improvement and risk management programs, and works in a collaborative manner reflecting sound customer service skills

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Responsible for procuring goods and services for Eskenazi Health departments and operating units through the application of accepted purchasing practice and procedures 
•    Monitors purchasing records and clearly documents utilization, savings, problem areas, exceptions and discrepancies and relays information to pharmacy leadership
•    Provides direct oversight of inventory management in all pharmacy areas
•    Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and clinic leadership to supply medications to meet patient care needs
•    Identifies and actively manages drug shortages; informs and suggests strategies to minimize impact of supply chain disruptions
•    Monitors and manages pharmaceutical recalls and product changes
•    Regularly monitors and informs pharmacy leadership of changes in purchasing patterns
•    Ensure compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements for all Patient Assistance Program (PAP) activities, including eligibility verification, documentation and reporting. 
•    Collaborates with 340B Program Coordinator to ensure compliance and optimization of the Eskenazi Health 340B Program
•    Effectively communicates with staff, patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, and outside contacts
•    Performs the following supervisory functions:
o    Recruits, hires, and trains pharmacy staff
o    Utilizes staffing resources to ensure cost effective, quality services
o    Coaches, counsels, and continually evaluates pharmacy staff performance; executes the disciplinary process as indicated
•    Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures to comply with regulatory standards
•    Ensures pharmacy staff knowledge, understanding, and compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, and organizational standards, policies, and procedures related to pharmaceutical procurement  
•    Assists with continuous quality improvement and risk management programs at the department and institution level, and works in a collaborative manner reflecting sound customer service skills
•    Acts as a professional mentor for pharmacy staff, residents, and students 

Job Requirements

•    Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree preferred, or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy with equivalent experience
•    Completion of PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 residency preferred
•    Apexus Advanced 340B Certification preferred 
•    Licensure in the state of Indiana or licensure eligible; participation in continuing education activities to meet licensure requirements
