Job Role Summary

This position will be responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees by assessing company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives, identifying and arranging suitable training solutions for staff. This position identifies and utilizes appropriate methods of instruction with an emphasis on adult learning techniques. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring competencies and best practices for all levels of staff through course development and delivery.

Essential Duties

  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with managers and leadership.
  • Create and maintain a professional development training calendar for staff to ensure current best practices are met.
  • Design and create training manuals, online learning modules, and course materials.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with program managers.
  • Communicate and coordinate professional development training program with leadership and staff.
  • Organize specific training programs to help maintain, enhance, or improve job skills.
  • Formulate training outlines and determines instructional methods.
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities or programs for effectiveness.
  • Oversee the operations related to the implementation and growth of the professional development training program. 
  • Maintain proper documentation records of training activities.
  • Assist the evaluation team with needed metrics for progress reporting and grant compliance.

Associated Job Duties

  • Participate in emergency public health preparedness exercises and in the response to public health emergencies as directed.
  • Monitor and understand Incident Command structure (ICS) via working with emergency preparedness staff.
  • Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in secondary education, business administration, public health, public affairs or a related field and 5 years of experience in program development, program design and implementation or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Master’s level degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to different stakeholders.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Experience with facilitating groups.

Licenses/Certifications Required

  • Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the adult education models for course development.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, instructional design, oral, written and electronic presentation skills.
  • Negotiation skills necessary to bring people/groups together.
  • Thorough knowledge of program planning process including development of goals, objectives, and evaluation measures.
  • Communicate well with people of various cultures, ethnicities, and life experiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Working Environment

  • Primarily office environment.
  • Physical demands include lifting light weight materials on a routine basis.
  • The position requires the ability to engage in and/or out of state travel as needed.
