Job Role Summary

Performs administrative and support duties specifically oriented to the day-to-day activities of the Corporate Payroll Office. 

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for timely and accurate payroll input through SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Kronos and ADP systems.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of employee information.
  • Perform computations necessary to prepare payroll information for computer input and the processing of exception items or items requiring special handling.
  • Balance data input and reconcile to pay cycle reports.
  • Initiate, input, and balance off-cycle payments and adjustments.
  • Verify and input employee banking information, voluntary deductions, and tax changes..
  • Understand and apply company payroll policies.  This requires maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base of payroll policies.
  • Verify time and attendance data to insure accurate pay.  
  • Inform employees regarding garnishment orders, interrogatories, and federal and state tax levies.
  • Provide requested, and legally required, employee information to courts and governmental agencies.
  • Balance deductions and verifies payments on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Provide instructions to management and staff regarding policies and procedures for proper payroll preparation and document submission.
  • Provides assistance to supervisors with Kronos input and problems.
  • Work with managers, supervisors and employees to resolve inquiries regarding employees’ wages, deductions, recorded time and benefit balances and accruals.
  • Prepare retirement submissions to PERF and Deferred Comp.
  • Prepare requested reports as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of contacts including: employees, managers, and supervisors, as well as external contacts.
  • Plan and prioritize work.
  • Work under the pressure of deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Analyze payroll change requests to prevent fraud attempts prior to entering the requested change in a payroll system.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.
  • Attention to accurate detail to prevent delays in payroll processing, mistakes in employee paychecks, and/or many hours spent in correcting system errors. 
  • Assist with testing and validating all payroll system upgrades and implementations. 
  • Work alongside the Human Resource department on policy updates and changes, benefit updates and changes, and employee transfers, new hires, and terminations.

Qualifications

  • Some post High School business education preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years experience required with automated payroll systems in a corporate environment.  Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Kronos, and ADP preferred.
  • Knowledge of timekeeping and payroll practices.
  • PC skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows.
  • Proficiency and accuracy with numbers, and experience using a 10 key calculator.

  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Potential overtime with long hours at the computer required during payroll processing.
  • High degree of maturity, tact, and judgment is required in dealing with internal and external contacts.
