Job Role Summary

The purpose of this position is to greet and direct the patient upon their arrival to the clinic according to services needed. Schedule same day and follow up appointments. Receive visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming and provide information to visitors as requested. Answer incoming calls discreetly and in a timely manner, screen calls, respond to inquiries and/or refer callers to the appropriate division within the clinic. Informs patients and the public of services offered, clinic hours, location, and types of payment accepted. Perform secretarial and general office support for the effective operation of the STD Control Program.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Language Skills: 

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: 

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Working Enviornment
  • Standard medical office environment.
  • Exposure to communicable disease, illness and combative patients.
  • Some physical effort associated with carrying of supplies for health fairs and handling clinic supplies
