Job Role Summary

Performs responsible secretarial and general office tasks specifically oriented to the department; monitors and maintains records for continuity of services.  Responsible for the collection of fees for various permits, licenses, and fines.  Ensures proper accounting for all funds collected.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • High degree of verbal and written communication skills for a variety of contacts with internal and external clients, including other departments, individuals, vendors, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to compile and organize information, prioritize work, meet deadlines and work under pressure; ability to multi-task with successful outcomes.
  • High level of concentration, accuracy, ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Adequate knowledge of the local codes enforced by department staff so that complaints/requests for service and questions can be directed appropriately.
  • Must successfully complete required trainings.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in a professional office setting is required
