Job Role Summary
The Nutrition Services Program is seeking a student intern from a health-related field including dietetics, community health educators, or public health. The intern will work with the Nutrition Services team to develop and disseminate nutrition programming throughout Marion County. The intern will collaborate with Nutrition Services community health educators and registered dietitians to gain hands on experience in the field of public health and enhance their experience and understanding of public health nutrition.
Essential Duties
Intern Job Responsibilities:
The Nutrition Services Intern will help plan and implement nutrition programming throughout Marion County for a wide variety of settings including in-person classes and food demonstrations, virtual classes, newsletters, social media, health fairs and more. They may assist in the development of new recipes and/or health fair display materials. The intern will be expected to be available some evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
•Registered Dietitian exam eligible preferred, but not required
•Minimum 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate program in a health or nutrition-related field
•ServeSafe food handler certified within 4 weeks of hire date
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Basic nutrition knowledge
•Core cooking and food preparation skills
•Knowledge of social and cultural backgrounds as they related to proper nutrition
•Presentation development
•Group speaking
•Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and file management, communication software, data management
Working Environment
Collaborative team environment in a traditional office. The position will require the intern to have a valid driver’s license and transportation. The intern will need to be able to lift supplies likely no more than 40 pounds into a vehicle to transport to special events. Most of the working hours will be typical business hours Monday-Friday, but occasionally they may be asked to participate in programming that occurs on the weekend or in the evening hours.
