Job Role Summary

The individual in this position will be responsible for the investigation and implementation of interventions to control and prevent certain infectious diseases in accordance with Indiana Administrative Code. This individual will serve as a resource to the public through community education and as a consultant to other healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, public health professionals, school officials and infection prevention partners.

Associated Job Duties

  • Travel between district health offices, clinics, hospitals, schools, and public health agencies ad necessary.
  • Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training.
  • Must comply with HIPAA policies and procedures for the handling of all protected health information (PHI).
  • Update MCPHD's board of directors, other public agencies, and the media on progress of outbreaks or ongoing disease investigations of public health significance.
  • Assist in employee health program by administering the annually required tuberculin skin test and influenza vaccination to MCPHD staff.

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana driver's license
  • Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current CPR and Tuberculin Skin Testing certification
  • At least 1 year of experience working as an RN with experience using an EMR

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Public Health 10 Essential Services
  • Knowledge of Epidemiological principles
  • Basic nursing skills expected
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office platform
  • Critical thinking, autonomy, and professionalism
