Job Role Summary
This position is responsible for comprehensive nursing services that promote the health and well-being of residents in Marion County, with a special focus on vulnerable populations, refugees, and immigrants. Works with a multi-disciplinary team to promote health and wellness through assessments, health education, coordination of care, clinical services, counseling, and preventative services. Responsible for managing services for the individual diagnosed with or suspected of having TB or latent TB infection, from initiation to completion of treatment, change in diagnosis, or death. Working with diverse populations, with varying language and cultural backgrounds, this position must be flexible and adaptive in providing continuity of care. There will be travelling in Marion County to visit community sites.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a NLN accredited college/program
- 2 or more years of previous nursing experience, including at least one year of hospital practice is preferred
- Computer skills including typing skills of a minimum of 30 words per minute
Licenses/Certifications Required
- Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Valid Indiana Driver’s license
- Access to own vehicle and current automobile insurance
- CPR certified
- TB skin test certified (training provided)

- Ability to interact in a professional manner and effectively deal with the demands of clients/patients, agencies, community partners, and government entities
- Must be flexible in working with a variety of community partners
- Requires skills in effective interpersonal communication in a multi-cultural setting
- Work collaboratively and diplomatically with colleagues, personnel, and the public
- Requires ongoing knowledge of Marion County communities and agencies
- Requires ongoing knowledge of disease etiology/treatment modalities and public health principles/concepts
- Requires ongoing knowledge of local/state/federal laws, regulations concerning communicable diseases and the foreign-born population
- Must maintain confidentiality of information per HIPPA guidelines
Working Enviornment
- May be required to travel in and/or of state (related to work conferences and/or community sites)
- Unconfined sitting – client interviews, computer data entry (charting), etc., standing or walking to and from community sites; climbing stairs; steady use of hands or fingers; lifting, carrying, etc. with arms and legs (possibly as much as 20 pounds)
- May be exposed to substandard and unsanitary living conditions
- May be exposed to allergens of all types (i.e., pets, dust, smoke, etc.)
- May be exposed to communicable disease (s), blood, and other bodily fluids
- Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines and respond to immediate needs of communicable disease prevention/containment activities
- Required to wear N-95 masks in situations where client is considered infectious
- Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and accommodation
