Job Role Summary

As a member of the CIS Operations team, the Microsoft 365 Administrator is responsible for analysis, development, delivery, hardening and quality of the Microsoft 365 environment. Maintains end user trust, provides expert advice and effective management of Microsoft 365 services including: Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Purview and Bookings for the corporation. Creates and provides management with plans, policies, standards, and procedures regarding Microsoft 365 services, both current and future. Provides direct support to end users for Microsoft 365 services.


The individual will be the primary Microsoft 365 administrator for the corporation, this includes administrating Office 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, Purview and Bookings. The individual should also be well versed in automated scripting using PowerShell. The scope of work is broad, self-directed, and collaborative in nature within a technical team environment. The individual should be able to apply significant knowledge of IT trends and developments to improve service to the employees of the Health & Hospital Corporation and the Marion County Public Health Department.  This position requires an individual who is a highly motivated, energetic self-starter that needs minimal supervision.
 

Essential Duties

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for the entire Microsoft 365 environment
  • Acts in the role of end-user system owner with responsibility for Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Purview, Bookings and other Microsoft 365 services as determined
  • Support end-users in day-to-day or project/event issue resolution and technical implementations
  • Regularly apply advanced technical and industry best practice knowledge and systems analysis techniques, including consulting with users, peers and management, to optimize existing systems and procedures
  • Plan, develop, test and implement significant Microsoft 365 service changes, including service migrations and deployments
  • Perform tenant audits including user reconciliation including privileged accounts, quota usage, and license availability/reclamation
  • Implement and support Microsoft 365 security policies including enterprise data lifecycle management
  • Maintain a highly secure tenant through proper configuration and system access monitoring
  • Evaluate new and existing Microsoft 365 services ability to fulfill organizational needs
  • Regularly review the Microsoft 365 roadmap to provide organizational awareness to new and/or changed Microsoft 365 features and functionality
  • Monitor notification center for Microsoft 365 changes/deprecations that need to be mitigated
  • Monitor industry trends and products to research new technologies to improve the productivity and effectiveness of teaching, users and operations in general
  • Identify methods and systems for continuous monitoring and improvement of service resiliency and apply professional judgement to respond to, interpret and solve problems when alerted by data or users
  • May supervise or train other IT staff
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
  • Work with and/or have access to restricted or confidential information  
  • Maintain confidentiality of any sensitive information according to corporate procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  
  • A combination of computer-related technical training and successively increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for degree 
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible, related work experiences
  • License / Certification:  valid Indiana driver’s license and access to own vehicle for in-county travel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Microsoft Certifications preferred (Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert preferred)
  • Microsoft Graph API or other REST API experience preferred
  • Microsoft Azure experience preferred

Working Environment

  • Light travel within Marion County. Valid Indiana driver’s license and access to own vehicle required.
  • Hybrid work schedule.
