Job Role Summary

The Maternal Child Health (MCH) Department of the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) is looking for a creative intern to assist in the maintenance and development of creative websites and social media campaigns. The MCH Department has six dynamic programs that are designed to improve family health. Together the MCH Department provides strategic services to improve family health outcomes in our community. 

The intern’s role is to manage the department’s website togetherindycan.org,  and assist with researching and writing health messages for the department’s associated social media presence. 

Essential Duties

  • Work with individual MCH Program Managers/Staff to better understand their services and impact on family health. Present those messages by enhancing the web and social media presence
  • Development of timely messages for the use on social media postings.
  • Perform social media marketing research and develop a content and advertising plan.
  • Manage togetherindycan.org and ensure site is updated and promoted on a regular basis. 
  • Evaluate the current website and recommend any needs for enhanced functionality and/or redesign.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Junior or Senior status or graduate student majoring in Web Design/Development, Graphic Design, Digital Media and/or Communications; or Public Health with a background in communications/web development.
  • Knowledge and experience in Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and social media platforms. 

Working Environment

Intern will be working in an office environment with opportunities to interact with community events such ap meetings, health fairs and employee program events.
