Job Role Summary

Manage the activities of the clinic staff for the Marion County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program in the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) program within the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD). The WIC Program Manager is responsible for various clinic administrative and operational functions such as scheduling staff, completing staff time-keeping (KRONOS), supervising and mentoring clinic leads and clinic staff, completing staff evaluations, and maintaining the INWIC scheduler, etc. Assists with implementation and evaluation of nutrition education program within established Federal, State and MCH/MCPHD guidelines and standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Thorough knowledge of (or ability to learn) the WIC Supplemental Food Program.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Effectively respond to stressful situations, time limitations.
    • Effectively organize, assign and supervise the work of others.
    • Program plan.
    • Interpret and apply federal, state and local program policies and procedures.
    • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
    • Operate standard office equipment.
    • Work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.

Licenses/Certifications Required

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Professional license/certification as appropriate

Qualifications

• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in, but not limited to, Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing,
Business, etc.
• Master’s degree preferred
• Mandatory 3 – 5 years WIC experience with demonstrated ability in supervising professional and
Paraprofessional staff
• Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for in-state travel
• Must meet one of the following qualifications listed below:
1. Must be a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association upon hire. RD license is required
2. Must be a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing, with background in Nutrition, upon hire. RN
license is required

Working Enviornment

  • • Travel required between various program locations.
    • Exposure to communicable illness and disease due to direct and frequent client contact; and possible participants under stress.
    • Some physical effort associated with lifting and carrying supplies.
