Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Follows policies and procedures (SOPs) to ensure minimal errors during all phases of testing as defined in the Medical Technologist job description
- Assists with schedules, competency assessments, new employee orientation and training, writing and providing input into section-specific policies and procedures as manager requests
- Responsible for inventory and ordering supplies, maintenance of instruments and equipment (may include instrument comparisons, linearities, etc.), monitoring quality control, and following up with any issues
- Ensures that proficiency testing is assigned and ordered, completed in a timely manner, and accurately reported; if there are deficiencies, ensures that the investigation is completed and documented according to SOPs
- Assists in the implementation of new and revised procedures/instrumentation
- Completes assignments/mandatories according to policies and procedures, with complete documentation and within designated time frames, including, but not limited to: procedure and policy reviews, read and signs, annual TB testing and flu shots, section competencies, proficiency testing, Eskenazi annual education
- Prioritizes and organizes work effectively to balance multiple tasks, while maintaining quality standards; maintains turnaround time standards for patient testing; assists others to maintain an efficient workflow
- Functions as a self-starter, arrives to work on scheduled days and is in the section ready to begin work at the start of the shift, as well as demonstrates flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of the section; stays busy with Eskenazi work throughout the assigned shift by assisting others or finding tasks to complete; ensures continuity of workflow by communicating with co-workers when leaving the area
- Assists manager by checking final results, providing reports in Epic, giving input for employees' performance appraisals, and helping interview job applicants, per section's needs
- Assumes supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor/manager; keeps section inspection ready at all times
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or related science (e.g. Biology or Chemistry) from an accredited U.S. college or university; foreign degrees must be officially assessed to determine U.S. equivalency
- ASCP or equivalent certification with five years of discipline-related experience
- 10 years of discipline-related experience may be accepted in lieu of ASCP or equivalent certification
