Job Role Summary
The Logistics Team Leader is responsible ensure the smooth operations and efficient functioning of the IEMS Supply / Logistics Technicians. This position is responsible for leading and managing the Supply / Logistics Technicians overseeing their day-to-day activities and ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This position will require exceptional leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks that contribute to the overall success of the warehouse.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Supply / Logistics Technicians, including picking, packing, delivery, and receiving of items within the warehouse.
- Plan and prioritize work assignments for the team to ensure optimal workflow and productivity.
- Train and develop team members on proper warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Assist in developing strategies to optimize EMS Station and Ambulance supply levels.
- Manage light duty, PRN, and other staff as assigned.
- Manage logistics processes developed to improve daily operations, enhance resiliency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with SOPs to maintain quality control and accuracy of inventory.
- Coordinate with external customers and IEMS Sections to ensure smooth operations and effective supply order fulfilment.
- Work with the Warehouse Coordinator and logistics team management to conduct regular cycle counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement efficient warehouse and delivery practices to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise within the team and address performance concerns through coaching and mentoring.
- Prepare regular reports on delivery and supply level management, including productivity metrics, inventory levels, and order fulfilment rates.
- Creates and / or communicates the need for requisitions, receives, stores and distributes hospital supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals used by IEMS
- Provides support to divisions of the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County as directed
- Packages, records and delivers materials requisitioned by IEMS units and other supported agencies throughout Marion County
- Ensures vehicles assigned to EMS Supply are ready by inspecting, cleaning and maintaining vehicle and vehicle inventory, fluids and emergency accessories
- Retrieves paperwork from satellite EMS locations and delivers to the appropriate location
- Retrieves, inspects and cleans IEMS equipment from area hospitals
- Returns broken equipment to service or delivers to the appropriate repair facility
- Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for equipment
- Maintains continuous radio contact with dispatch (PSC), keeps issued cell phone available at all times and promptly returns any missed calls; prepares job-related reports and documentation as required
- Maintains a safe and clean work area and follows safe working practices
- Safely operates any IEMS vehicle
Associated Job Duties
- Help to maintain an inventory of the EMS equipment to ensure the immediate availability of additional stocked and fully equipped ambulances when required
- Mandatory overtime may be required in support of events in Indiana, including but not limited to declared or undeclared disasters, Mass casualty events, Events of National Significance, Events with anticipated attendance greater than 150,000 people, Indianapolis 500, and the 500 Festival Parade
- Maintains EMS supply warehouse Par Level and rotates inventory
- Assists with the care and maintenance of the reserve fleet of ambulances including inspection of vehicles being returned by crews. Cleans, stocks, and fuels as necessary and checks fluid levels and the operation of all ambulance related accessories
- Participates in educational programs and meetings
- Assumes assigned responsibility as unit leader when working without direct supervision
- Performs other job related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Three years previous experience in one of the following areas: First Responder or EMT, Warehouse, Medical Supply Distribution System. Warehouse management experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s License – must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
- American Health Association CPR Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 or obtain within 30 days of hire
- Continuing education to maintain all required certifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Hearing must be correctable to age normal hearing
- Ability to use current computer / information technology software and hardware
- Ability to safely operate an emergency vehicle in all weather conditions
- Mechanical aptitude required in conducting equipment maintenance checks and detecting mechanical malfunctions on EMS equipment and vehicles
- Knowledge and ability to communicate through e-mail, a two-way radio, and a cellular phone
- Knowledge of the Indiana EMS Rules and Regulations concerning equipment and supplies required for ambulance certification
- Ability to use age appropriate communication skills

Special Effort Required
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods

- Ability to lift 75 lbs. without assistance and carry EMS related items
- Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending and reaching above shoulders
- Frequent vehicle operation
Working Environment
- Duties are performed indoors and outdoors; outside duties will require exposure to potentially severe weather conditions
- Significant work in active warehouse and garage area
- May be required to attend meetings or perform work remote from IEMS HQ or hospital campus
- May be exposed to unexpected events or hazards including chemical, biological, or radiologic hazards
- May be exposed to hazards as a part of criminal or terrorist efforts to deliberately subvert or bypass available protective measures and inflict intentional harm, disability, or death
