Job Role Summary
A clinic lead with allocated hours for both administrative and client services functions. The CPA lead is responsible for various administrative clinic operations such as scheduling staff, completing staff Kronos, supervising and mentoring clinic staff, completing staff evaluations, and maintaining the INWIC scheduler. Determines eligibility and education to participants in the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC). Assists with implementation and evaluation of nutrition education plan within established federal, state and divisional guidelines and standards. Assists in providing WIC services to participants in a timely manner. Provides WIC staff relief in various Marion County WIC clinics.
Essential Duties
- Performs all duties of a Competent Professional Authority (CPA).
- Supervise clinic staff.
- Weekly scheduling of assigned staff.
- Direct team in times of staff shortages.
- Input and maintain INWIC scheduler.
- Collect monthly data and input monthly reports including, but not limited to, Site statistics, Nutrition Stats, etc.
- Ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures established by ISDH/WIC and those of HHC/MCPHD.
- Serve as contact for supplies, ordering, inventory (both BF and non-BF) and tracking of breast pumps.
- Ensure clinic specific administrative counts (i.e. hemoglobin, lead sticks and RICOH/copier) are reported timely to WIC Office Assistant.
- Provide CLIA training for staff and assist with orientation/training for clinic staff.
- Lead clinic/team meeting, prepare meeting agenda and ensure meeting minutes are recorded.
- Attend scheduled WIC Leadership Team Meetings.
- Complete staff evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Report to assigned WPM.
- Maintains confidentiality of all client records and information as specified by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability of Act of 1996.
- Trained at the appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ISC) level.
- Participate in the response to public health emergency exercises and in the response to public health emergencies, as directed.
- Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually.
- Other duties as assigned.
Associated Job Duties
- Incorporate a Participant Centered Services (PCS) approach.
- Maintains confidentiality of participant information based on program and health department policies and procedures.
- Transports participant information between clinic site and WIC administration following HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Cross-trained to work both Clerical staff and CPA duties as assigned.
- Effectively interpret Indiana WIC policies and procedures.
- Daily contacts with participants and their families, health team members, departmental personnel to provide/obtain services for participants.
- Referrals to community agencies and external organizations to obtain/provide information and services.
- Flexibility to respond to changing situations/priorities.
- Effective response to different situations, time limitations, clinic environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in dietetics, food and nutrition, nutrition-related field, nursing, OR equivalent educational experience, OR registration (or registry eligible) as a dietitian by the American Dietetic Association (must obtain registration within 12 months of hire if registry eligible) OR Indiana RN license
- WIC experience for a minimum of 1 year. Preferred Marion County Public Health Department WIC experience, but not required.
- Access to reliable transportation for in-state travel.
- Valid Indiana driver's license

- Prepare nutrition education materials.
- Evaluate eligibility criteria for the IN WIC program.
Working Environment
- Travel required between various program locations.
- Exposure to communicable illness and disease due to direct and frequent client contact; participants in stress.
- Some physical effort associated with lifting and carrying supplies.
