You will have the opportunity to improve your coding abilities in both SAS and R, as well as work in data visualization software such as Power BI and SAS Viya. Work will involve assisting on large projects, such as our epidemiology department’s health equity report, as well as any ad hoc data requests that come through from various departments.

Associated Job Duties

As a result, any of our currently created SAS and R code that pulls from our current system will need to be revamped to run off the new system. This individual will have the opportunity to improve their SAS and R knowledge by working with other epidemiologists coding, as well as write/edit code to run off the newer system. In addition, the individual will have the chance to work on our transition from SAS Viya to Power Bi and assist with new data visualization techniques within Power Bi.
  • Another project this individual will be involved with is our epidemiology department’s health equity report. This report highlights various infectious diseases that are in Marion County, so data analysis around these diseases will need to be conducted and data visualizations, such as graphs and charts will also need to be created.
  • Lastly, this individual will have the opportunity to work on any ad hoc data requests that come from departments the infectious disease epidemiologist is the main contact for. These departments include infectious disease, tuberculosis, refugee health, and immunizations, and this provides a good opportunity for someone to become familiar with the various work that is conducted in a local health department setting.
