Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

Under the supervision of the Area Operations Director, SDOH, Health Equity Project Managers drive setup, execution, and closeout of SDOH associated projects of all scales. They serve as the consolidated point of accountability, communication, and coordination for all activity within a given project. Project Managers drive successful projects by engaging and organizing the effort of subject matter experts.

This Project Management position functions at the system level and may interface with colleagues from various departments within the health system, bringing different areas together to achieve health equity and SDOH goals. This position is 100% grant funded through 12/27/2027.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Establishes, plans, manages, evaluates, and closes out health equity projects and programs approved by SDOH leadership
  • Organizes project status reporting and communication
  • Ensures that project portfolio information is kept up to date, pulling needed data from a variety of sources
  • Ensures that project working materials are centralized, specialized and readily accessible to the project team and stakeholders
  • Lead processes to continuously increase integration of health and racial equity strategies into organizational systems.
  • Act as liaison between health system and community, taking complex health system ideas and communicate with the community in a way that is understandable and impactful
  • Seek new knowledge, exemplars, and emerging trends of best practices in building relationships with community-based organizations from other local, national, and international healthcare systems
  • Ensures that project results are reviewed
  • Works within grant funded project budgets (as appropriate)
  • Maintain partner relationships and accountability for neighborhood projects
     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a healthcare related field
  • Proficiency with stakeholder management, service improvement, and requirements engineering/analysis
  • Experience using project and portfolio management platforms 
  • At least 3 years of experience managing complex projects or relevant job experience demonstrating project management acumen, with project management certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to productively engage staff, customers, stakeholders, and partners at all levels. The incumbent will be able to effectively coordinate project participation across a diversity of roles both within and beyond Eskenazi Health
  • Ability to identify key team members and stakeholders for project of different types. Project Managers are expected to be able to assist in identifying the key players in projects for the purpose of enabling project setup and planning.
  • Ability to facilitate the development of clear and actionable project objectives which meet business requirements. Project Managers are expected to be able to work with stakeholders to arrive at agreement around useful project objectives.
  • Ability to drive compliance around project status reporting. Project Managers are expected to ensure that task or deliverable level project status is available at all times during project execution.
  • Ability to succinctly summarize and communicate project status. Project Managers are expected to consistently utilize templates and other pre-made materials to report regularly on project status.
  • Ability to identify and run appropriate reports and data to track progress towards project goals, or to work with data stewards to produce data not available via self-service reporting.
  • Ability to monitor project expenses and income (if applicable) to maximize cost effectiveness of operations; in conjunction with Area Operations Director, analyzes financial information and makes recommendations. 
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leadership team to determine elements of operations and financial data utilized in assessing operational outcomes.
  • Ability to help prepare data and narrative submissions for external and internal funding submissions.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with external and internal partners and establish effective collaborative relationships at every level of the organization.
