Job Role Summary

The Healthy Homes Department is seeking a motivated and creative intern to support a variety of projects in the Healthy Homes Department that support and advance community health initiatives. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, able to work independently while following directions, and eager to contribute fresh ideas and perspectives. This internship offers hands-on experience in public health program development, service delivery, community engagement and more. The intern will assist with project coordination, communications, and data support while gaining valuable exposure to real-world public health practice.

Essential Duties

Intern Job Responsibilities
•    Assist in planning, coordinating and executing project timelines and tasks within the program areas.
•    Work closely with community partners, facilitating meetings, identifying and planning deliverables for department projects. 
•    Interpret results of data analysis for public health practice, research, and/or policy
•    Ability to discuss factors that impact community health 
•    Identify and apply audience-specific communication strategies to share analysis results and other information
•    Communicate public health content, both in writing and through oral presentation

Associated Job Duties

•    In addition to job responsibilities, the intern will have the ability to shadow other areas within Environmental Health and the Marion County Health department.

Qualifications

•    Currently enrolled in degree program
•    Strong communication and organizational skills.
•    Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
•    Proficiency is Microsoft Office Suite.

Education/Experience
•    Current student with an MPH concentration (preferred) or similar 
•    Proficient written and oral communication skills

•    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Report writing
•    Effective coordinator with internal staff and key outside constituents.

Working Environment

•    Candidate must be currently able to legally work in the United States
•    Position requires steady use of hands or fingers: 50%
•    Location will be in person
•    This is a driving position and may require a significant percentage of work time to be performed outside the base office.
