Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

Fathers and Families Center is an independent not-for-profit corporation that is affiliated with Eskenazi Health.  The mission of Fathers and Families Center is “To equip fathers and empower families so that children thrive.” We accomplish this by working with participants to be better persons, partners, providers, and parents for their families. 
The Fatherhood Manager provides management for the day-to-day operations of the Strong Fathers program and services, including, outreach/recruitment, orientation, class schedule, case management, advocacy and other support services.   This position also supervises the Fatherhood Team. 
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

 

This is a grant funded position.

I•    In coordination with the VP of Programs and Partnership, coordinates annual class schedule including curriculum/workshop topics, speakers, special activities, and evaluation. 
•    In collaboration with VP of Programs and Partnership, coordinates community outreach/recruitment through special events, presentations and community workshops.
•    In collaboration with the Director of Grants, Research and Evaluation, conducts overall workshop evaluation and implements approved changes to curriculum to improve the quality of instruction. 
•    Coordinates court and legal advocacy efforts for participants, including letters and court appearances.
•    Tracks and documents participant progress using computer database and prepares monthly activity reports and other reports as requested.
•    Manages any disciplinary actions that are required to address participant behavior.
•    Analyzes service delivery and makes recommendations to ensure high quality programs and services are provided that meet the needs of the participants.
•    Provides supervision, direction and support to Fatherhood staff to ensure high quality programming and consistent outcomes.
•    Monitor staff caseload and documentation in client files in the electronic database system and in participant files.  Provides training on documentation as needed.
•    In collaboration with VP of Programs and Partnership, facilitate access to needed services for participants and their families through referral and follow-up.
•    Coordinate orientation sessions for prospective participants.
•    Coordinates special activities for class participants and their families.

Job Requirements

•    Completion of a bachelor’s degree in education, social services or related field and three (3) years of experience in a social services, public health or human services setting, or 
•    Completion of an associate’s degree and five years of experience managing a team, or
•    Ten years of experience in a nonprofit setting in a program position.
•    Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Experience in teaching and/or training.
•    Knowledge of diverse cultures and history of those cultures. 
•    Experience in working with the criminal justice system, paternity and child support court/systems, and the child welfare system.
•    Ability to write, edit, organize and analyze. 
•    Understand and communicate effectively with target population, necessitating familiarity with the issues of parenting, relationships, mental health, substance abuse, violence, and the criminal justice system.
•    Communicate in a concise and easily understandable manner with professionals, paraprofessionals, and the target population.
•    Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills.
•    Prioritize tasks and work effectively with complex tasks under time pressure.
•    Work with general supervision and exercise independent judgment, utilizing diplomacy, tact, and good customer relations skills.
•    Knowledge of education, employment, healthcare, and other community resources available to help low-income parents.
•    Competence in computer usage, MS Office software and databases with ability/willingness to learn other systems.
•    Can effectively utilize various online and virtual platforms for education and outreach.
