Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Epic and SAP S/4 HANA Developer is responsible for all Analytics-owned servers and the associated development and ETL processes. This would include, but is not limited to Epic Clarity, Epic Caboodle, SAP S/4HANA, and SSIS servers. The Developer should be certified, or able to be certified in SAP S/4 HANA within two (2) years of employment. The person in the position should have an expert understanding of the Clarity and Caboodle data models and their relationship to Chronicles or be able to certify and learn within two (2) years of employment. This position acts as a support person for the Analytics team and should be able to communicate effectively regarding any issues they are experiencing with the databases and provide guidance to BI developers on troubleshooting queries. The Developer will be part of an on-call rotation for server issues and off-hours work will be required during software upgrades.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain the Epic databases in all environments, the SAP S/4 HANA database, and the SSIS server according to the environment strategy.
  • Modify the ETL, ELT, or other data transformation and load processes to meet organizational needs.
  • Ensure optimal performance and integrity of the Cogito ETL process by maintaining Epic best practices. 
  • Add new tables and columns to extracts as needed.
  • Verify all ETL processes complete each day.
  • Communicate with the Analytics team immediately when any ETL or data transfer process is not completed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data transfer process errors.
  • Participate in the change control process for all planned application and technical activities.
  • On rotation with the other Developers, provide on call support to troubleshoot database issues that occur after working hours.
  • Responsible for ensuring all upgrade related tasks for the ETL, Caboodle Development, and SlicerDicer development are completed, and properly validated prior to or shortly after the upgrade.
  • Provide support during upgrades to ensure databases restart and update appropriately. 
  • Adheres to departmental documentation and data migration standards.
  • Manages and monitors the health of the SSIS database.
  • Aids Analytics team members on writing efficient queries.
  • Develops data models in S/4 HANA based on operational needs for all Health and Hospital Corporation entities.
  • Creates new ETL or ELT processes when new data sources are needed for SAP S/4 HANA. 
  • Ensures access and provisioning to the databases and the data in them is correct.
     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Informatics, Business, Mathematics or a healthcare major from an accredited college or university; Graduate degree or advanced certification strongly preferred
  • Eight years of healthcare analytical experience may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirement.
  • Epic Cogito Administration Certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • SAP S/4 HANA Certification within two (2) years of employment.
  • Experience with healthcare data is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PHI restrictions, data governance, and data warehousing is required. 
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license
