Job Role Summary

The primary role of the Engagement Specialist is to develop and design strategic initiatives to support employee retention. The Engagement Specialist will work to build trusted relationships across the organization to ensure that employees are supported in their roles and have access to tools and resources that promote growth, development, and success.  In collaboration with the Employee Relations Specialist, department leadership and people managers, the Engagement Specialist will coordinate training programs, create employee development plans, and identify succession planning and growth opportunities.

Essential Duties

  • Gather qualitative retention data by conducting employee surveys, retention interviews, stay interviews and focus groups; disseminate information to stakeholders, utilizing a standard reporting method and platform
  • Obtain qualitative data from exit interviews, analyze data collected to identify trends in employee separations; disseminate information to stakeholders, utilizing a standard reporting method and platform
  • Collect quantitative turnover data and disseminate information to stakeholders, utilizing a standard reporting method and platform
  • Serve as employee ambassador for the organization by facilitating conversations, engaging in thoughtful discussions, and providing ongoing feedback
  • Observe and evaluate organization and department culture to identify gaps where additional manager/supervisor training could be beneficial
  • Facilitate and conduct New Employee Orientation for all lines of employees, to include policies & procedures training 
  • Deliver training programs to enhance compliance with policies & procedures, employment regulations, or to support employee development
  • Work with the Employee Relations Specialist to coordinate manager/supervisor training and development programs
  • Work with the Benefits and Compensation Specialist and Manager of HR to analyze compensation data and scheduling models to better align initiatives with evolving workforce needs
  • Identify innovative opportunities for organizational and employee advancement 
  • Develop creative and innovative organizational programs that support the organization’s mission and core values
  • Develop, implement, and administer recognition and appreciation programs across the organization
  • Identify and utilize tools designed to improve the relationships between employees, people managers and the organization
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement employee networks and committees; prioritizing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives
  • Analyze data to identify the engagement programs and initiatives that are successful and the initiatives that need improvement or redesigned
  • Work with leaders to make the organization a better place to work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership/Development or related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a shared services segment of a Human Resources team (e.g., compliance, employee relations, employee development, HRIS)
  • Previous program design or training experience preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite
  • Thorough understanding of training planning practices and techniques
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with employees, managers, and vendors
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize

Working Enviornment

  • Standard office environment. 
  • Will require some travel to other HHC owned facilities and significant employee-facing time.
