Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

We’re seeking a strategic HR leader to join our team as Director of Benefits & Employee Relations—a role that blends innovation, compliance, and compassion to create an exceptional employee experience.
The role provides strategic and operational direction and leadership to the organization in human resources planning, policies, employee engagement and retention and systems development. Serves as a consultant and coach to organization leaders and employees. Represents and/or acts on behalf of the Vice President of Human Resources as appropriate. This position directs the Employee Relations and Benefits teams.

Your Impact
- Shape Employee Experience: Lead Employee Relations and Benefits teams to foster engagement, retention, and well-being.
- Drive Strategic HR Initiatives: Develop and implement programs that promote diversity, inclusion, and workforce wellness.
- Lead Labor Relations: Oversee end-to-end labor relations, including grievance intake and hearings, arbitrations, and union negotiations. Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local laws, interpret and administer union agreements, and partner with Legal and senior leadership to achieve timely, positive outcomes.
- Innovate Benefits Programs: Manage health, retirement, and wellness benefits, ensuring competitive offerings and regulatory compliance.
- Leverage HR Technology: Partner on SAP, SuccessFactors, and ADP projects to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate candidate with possses an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of HR leadership experience; OR equivalent experience (10+ years in employee/labor relations and benefits).
- Experience in union environment, preferred
- Expertise in employment law, labor relations, and benefits administration.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
- Knowledgable in labor relations principles and practices of human resources management and supervision in a union environment
