Job Role Summary
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

- Keeps the operatory neat and clean during procedures and disinfects thoroughly before each patient arrives. Keeps hand pieces properly maintained. Ensures that vacuum lines, unit, chair, light, instruments, and tray setups are thoroughly disinfected and properly sterilized at all times.
- Restocks rooms as necessaryProvides patient management for the dental department
- Takes vital signs and reviews patient health history, updating as necessaryLays out necessary instruments for procedureAssists the dentist or dental hygienist in transfer of instruments utilizing approved dental assisting principles. Assists the operator in preparation and delivery of dental materialsExposes and processes x-rays and duplicates when necessary. Ensures all x-rays are suitable for diagnosisPerforms sealant on patient treatment plan
- Assists the Dental Services Manager on infection control and OSHA guidelinesHandles protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA)Maintains strict confidentiality and respect the privacy of others
- Orders and maintains inventory of dental supplies according to purchasing policies and procedures for EHC
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalentBilingual in English and Spanish preferredGraduate of an accredited dental assisting program or CDA requiredPrevious experience within a medical/dental clinic valuableX-ray certifiedSealant certified
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic computer and mathematic skillsExhibits hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity when working with patients and/or equipmentAbility to:
