This is an unpaid internship - Students receive complimentary parking, career assessments and letters of recommendation. Students are encrouaged to seek academic credit.
Summary:
The Regenstrief Center for Health Equity Research (RCHER) at Eskenazi Health envisions a community where all people have an opportunity to attain their highest level of health. Social determinants of health, or health related social care needs, prevent people from attaining their highest level of health and thereby contributes to health disparities. The RCHER mission is to conduct applied clinical research in collaboration with our local community that leads to scalable solutions to health disparities. The Center focuses on research seeking to improve health outcomes for underserved and minority populations in urban settings who face a disproportionate share of social care needs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
We are seeking motivated undergraduate or masters-level students looking to develop their skills in research and interacting with patients. The intern will be under the guidance of the lead health equity researcher and will have the opportunity to engage in RCHER’s leadership and other related meetings to help develop their professional network and skillset. This position will be primarily responsible for primary data collection either via phone call or in-person interviews. Additional responsibilities will include documenting data in REDCap.
- Interviewing/calling patients, community members, and/or staff members
- Reviewing electronic health records
- Literature reviews
- Participating in meetings
- Engaging in mentorship meetings
- Developing Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Additional Details:
- Preference will be given to applicants able to commit to a full year.
- This role is primarily remote; however, there is potential for some in-person needs.
- Can be completed on a part-time or as-needed basis dependent on personal and academic goals. Availability on evenings and weekends is preferred.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- There is potential to extend the internship for longer, dependent on business need.

Requirements:
- Interns must be at least 18 years of age.
- Interns should be motivated undergraduate or maters-level student.
- Successful completion of the online application, interview, hospital volunteer orientation, and position specific departmental training.
- Volunteers will be required to submit to criminal background inquiry, national governmental sanction check, child abuse clearance, sexual offender registry clearance and Occupational Health Screening.
