Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
In collaboration with the Public Affairs & Communications team, the Digital Communications Strategist assists with the development and coordination of public relations and communications activities for Eskenazi Health. This position coordinates Eskenazi Health’s social media and digital communication outreach efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and implementation of communication and outreach strategies to enhance the positive image and brand of Eskenazi Health
- Coordinates social media messaging on sites such as Facebook, X, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. including creation of campaigns and ensuring Eskenazi Health maintains an active and strategic presence
- Designs, edits and schedules digital signage content in online platform
- Coordinates event photography and other photography as needed
- Leads video creation projects for social media
- Maintains annual calendar of health observances and other markings for social media content purposes
- Develops solid and effective relationships with other organizations through social media
- Meets regularly with Eskenazi Health’s Digital Media Strategist on projects, tasks and strategies to coordinate digital communication efforts
- Maintains robust, accurate and up-to-date social media database and contacts
- Conceives creative ideas and opportunities for social media posts and helps integrate media pitches through social media that promote awareness of Eskenazi Health and its services to help attract patients
- Responds to social media inquiries within a reasonable amount of time; response time should be outlined in a developed social media plan
- Monitors quality and effectiveness of social media programs, including benchmarking and monitoring social media placements
- Provides social media training for Public Affairs & Communications staff and develops on-call plan for social media
- Assists with light design work
- Responds to inquiries from news media and coordinates the release of information on a 24-hour basis when on call
- Assists with various special projects related to Public Affairs & Communications activities including marketing, public relations, corporate communications, community relations and health promotions
- Collaborates with Public Affairs & Communications staff to create and implement communication plans for various Eskenazi Health departments, projects and initiatives
- Serves as a content developer, staff writer and editor on appropriate internal and external publications and other communication tools
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, public relations, journalism or related discipline required
• Two years of progressive professional experience in health care communications preferred
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Superior customer relations abilities
• High levels of accuracy, productivity and good judgment required in developing and maintaining a positive public image of Eskenazi Health
• Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently
• Ability to work independently and utilize excellent judgment in relating with colleagues at all levels
• Valid Indiana driver's license that meets Eskenazi Health’s driving policy requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Adept at presentation graphics programs
- Demonstrates excellent script writing skills, excellent listening and interviewing skills, sound project development and coordination skills, and management skills
- Ability to facilitate and lead work groups
- Demonstrates ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with senior management, physicians and outside organizations
- Advanced computer skills required, including social media platforms, Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, InDesign or Canva, PhotoShop, and video editing programs
- Appropriate infection control, sterile techniques, safety, patient rights and confidentiality for use when performing work in clinical settings
