Job Role Summary
The Control Panel Operator receives all maintenance requests and monitors the control panel room for all building issues. This position is responsible for dispatching all issues in a timely manner to on-site or off-site clinic staff and escalating issues to assigned/on call Supervisor for resolution of all other issues. This position also interacts with hospital personnel regularly using customer service skills and assists in following up on their reported issues.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

- Receives all maintenance requests and monitors the control panel building functions to dispatch staff or escalate issues for repairs on systems including but not limited to the heating, exhaust, air conditioning, tube system, lighting controls systems, water containment alarm system, medical gases, generators, and fire alarm/suppression systems of the hospital.
- Responsible for ensuring all issues are followed up on during assigned shift and status communicated back to requestor.
- Responsible for transferring information on shift activities to next shift staff for ensuring operational reliability.
- Responsible for understanding and performing all processes and current operations of the department.
- Reviews building automation program for alerts and dispatches staff or escalates to Supervisor as necessary to keep the building environment safe and function
- Receives emergency maintenance calls and dispatches staff to check and complete repairs.
- Monitors fire alarm system and dispatches maintenance and security to scene of any fire alarm.
- Monitor key and badge distribution for facility contractors such that no company access tool is lost/stolen. Report issues with any returns immediately to Supervisor.
- Assign physicians on call rooms as needed and tracks usage.
- Prepares reports on monitoring activities and/or work activities
- Assists in distributing parts and keeping inventory
- Performs light housekeeping duties in the department.
- Uses Work Order System to create, update, assign, and close work orders.
- Uses building automation system to adjust spaces within code or specified requirement
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and related trades.
- Works within emergency situations
- Identifies utility equipment failures and special systems issues such as fire, pneumatic tube through computer monitoring
- Demonstrates customer service skills
- Escalates issues to Supervisor when outside vendors/contractors/on-call personnel are needed to solve emergent issues
- Ability to operate building automation system
