Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Shape the Future of Healthcare at Eskenazi Health

Eskenazi Health is seeking a visionary Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to lead the development and execution of our strategic plan. This executive role is pivotal in driving organizational performance through data-driven decision-making, innovative planning, and effective governance structures that align with our mission, vision, and values.

About the Role

The CSO partners closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to evaluate, prioritize, and implement strategic initiatives that advance Eskenazi Health’s position as a leading academic health system. This role oversees multiple teams responsible for strategic planning, business development, performance improvement, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the creation and execution of Eskenazi Health’s strategic plan.
  • Lead a data-driven approach to evaluating opportunities and improving organizational performance.
  • Establish governance processes that ensure transparency and alignment across the health system.
  • Oversee business analytics infrastructure and monitor success metrics for strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of inquiry, creativity, and accountability through data utilization.
  • Mentor and develop leaders within the division, ensuring succession planning.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to troubleshoot complex operational challenges and redesign processes.


 

Qualifications

A top candidate will hold a master’s degree and bring at least 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations or business development, including seven years in leadership roles. Lean or Lean Six Sigma certification is required, along with a proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional teams and drive performance improvement initiatives.

 

Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, exceptional organizational and project management skills, and advanced problem-solving abilities. Experience in academic medical centers is preferred, and success in applying data-driven decision-making and clear communication with diverse stakeholders is essential.
