Job Role Summary
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence Monitors, accurately recognizes and interprets basic and advanced cardiac rhythm parametersRecognizes emergent situationsAssures and verifies proper lead placement for optimal EKG transmission with nursing staffRecognizes, identifies and appropriately prioritizes the need to notify nursing staff of any significant changes in the EKG rhythmEnters and maintains patient data into the monitor system, assuring accuracyMaintains all needed logbooks and patient medical records in accordance to the Standards of Care and ProtocolsAssists nursing staff with initiation and discontinuation of cardiac monitoringProficiently uses electronic systems, inclusive of the cardiac monitoring system(s) and patient data entry systemsPrints trend and disclosure reports upon requestMaintains the monitoring system, promptly notifying Biomedical Engineering and the direct nursing supervisor of any system malfunctions or failuresResponsible for maintaining the telemetry module packs including cleaning of packs, EKG wires and location of all telemetry packsResponsible for notifying nursing staff when low battery indicator occursResponsible for giving a detailed shift report to oncoming staff and to the Critical Care Shift CoordinatorAssures that rhythm strips are placed in patients' medical records, allowing for RN to confirm and sign the interpretation(s)
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) recommendedCurrent BLS certificationEKG certification or completion of a hospital-developed program or demonstrated proficiency
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic math, basic science, English grammar and spellingStrong customer relations skills requiredMaintains competency in basic and advance rhythm interpretation skillsAbility to:
