Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Job Role Summary

The Cardiac Diagnostics Lab (CDL) Supervisor oversees and manages cardiac diagnostics staff, including clerical and clinical employees. This position also, in coordination with appropriate administrators, Manager, Director, and Nursing, makes decisions and is responsible for personnel issues (supervision, discipline, hiring, etc.), and patient concerns/questions regarding clinic and Eskenazi Health.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs duties of a working supervisor for an assigned area or shift, as well as carries out the responsibilities of a Technologist/Nurse
  • In coordination with appropriate administrators, Manager, Director, and Nursing, makes decisions and is responsible for personnel issues (supervision, discipline, hiring, etc.), and patient concerns/questions regarding clinic and Eskenazi Health
  • Responsible for oversite of daily operational issues, including clerical and clinical employees, while coordinating operational flow, policies and procedures
  • Develops work schedules for specific shift and work areas; ensures optimal staff levels; demonstrates financial responsibility when scheduling
  • Demonstrates a positive leadership role
  • Provides adequate and timely communication with staff; instructs new employees in the operation, function, and importance of the Epic system; encourages involvement and participation by the staff in departmental operations
  • Alters activities and behaviors to reflect and ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e. adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal and adult)
  • Meets monthly with staff and maintains documentation of all communications
  • Participates in quality improvement and/or quality assurance for the department
  • Coordinates training schedules, annual check offs, mock codes
  • Functions as clinical resource and/or provider for cardiac stress testing, procedures and/or exams within the area of supervision
  • Communicates critical results to ordering physicians

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university
  • Three years of clinical nursing experience at Staff Nurse II equivalency level in clinical area of expertise
  • Current Indiana license as RN
  • ACLS and BLS certifications

OR

  • Indiana licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or ARDMS registration
  • ARRT registration. including compliance with professional CEU requirements
  • Three years of job-related experience required
  • Current CPR Certification required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of area standards of practice including specific knowledge of operation of CDL, clerical and clinical functions
  • Skill and effectiveness in making difficult decisions and exercising sound judgment
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Eskenazi Health's Infection Control and Communicable Disease policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively observe and perceive changing patient conditions, and to report questionable conditions to physicians and nursing personnel
  • Knowledge of the HIS, CR and RMS systems and associated programs, i.e. Film Tracking System, EPIC; ability to enter all appropriate patient and departmental data
  • Ability to lead, direct and evaluate the assigned technical staff and handle contacts with a high degree of tact, both with patients and in a supervisory context
  • Ability to supervise, delegate and coordinate the activities of others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure
  • Ability to multitask and juggle responsibilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, subordinate staff and patients
  • Ability to formulate, develop and implement new policies as well as maintaining existing policies and procedures in place with hospital and ICAEL guidelines
