Job Role Summary
The clinical psychologist is responsible for conducting psychological assessments, providing evidence-based therapy and support for patients and families affected by various mental health disorders. The psychologist must be proficient at evaluating patients for autism and autism related disorders. This role requires a compassionate approach to treatment and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The psychologist should possess either a PhD or PsyD from an accredited program, a current state license, and be board-certified to practice in Indiana.
Associated Job Duties
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and evaluations to diagnose mental conditions, especially those with disorders on the autism spectrum.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Provide individual and group therapy to clients, utilizing various therapeutic modalities. Monitor client progress and modify treatment plan as needed.
- Document visit activities in accordance with Health and Hospital policy.
- Reviews charts when indicated.
- Maintains medical records, utilizing appropriate forms.
- May provide clinical services at other Marion County Public Health Department sites as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises and responds to public health emergencies, as directed.
- Participate in three H.O.P.E. events totaling twelve (12) hours annually.
- Be proficient in working as a member of the primary health care team.
- Offer staff development in a variety of areas.
- Participate in programming and development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology(PhD or PsyD) from an accredited program.
- Current Indiana licensure as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Board certification for the state of Indiana.
- Experience in providing diagnoses and therapy to diverse populations, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder assessment and diagnosis.
- Strong assessment skills and familiarity with psychological testing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Licenses/Certifications Required
- Current Indiana licensure as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Board Certified to practice in Indiana.
- Valid Indiana driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Diplomacy and tact when interacting with staff and patients.
- Understanding a wide range of medical and psychosomatic illnesses and organic symptoms.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Good written and oral communication.
- Ability to work well across disciplines.
- Computer and electronic medical record proficiency.
Working Environment
- Must be able to perform job duties in an environment with a moderate noise level (business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- Has exposure to communicable disease.
- May encounter combative parents/families in stressful situations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with outside organizations and agencies.
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
