Job Role Summary
The Indianapolis Healthy Start (IHS) Clinical Coordinator position enables IHS to expand its capacity to provide direct access to well woman care and maternity care services to reduce barriers and help address health disparities among high risk and underserved women. The position allows for oversight and direct access to integrative medical and psychiatric services for all program participants. The clinical coordinator is responsible for ensuring the highest risk and underserved program participants receive comprehensive wrap around services to prevent obstetric emergencies and works to address maternal mortality in our community. The Clinical Coordinator will supervise the Fatherhood Engagement Clinician position, to ensure male program participants receive comprehensive wrap around case management and clinical services to assist in addressing the public health crisis of maternal mortality in our community. The Clinical Coordinator will work alongside the management staff to identify the program participants who score over 12 on the Edinburgh Depression screen to ensure they become connected to comprehensive medical care, which also includes counseling and psychiatric services. Monitoring and assessment of the Clinical Coordinator’s implementation of Circle of Security intervention will be accomplished by review by a licensed Medical and/or Psychiatric Provider who will discuss referrals made to the IHS Clinical Coordinator and processes implemented to assure that interventions are being made to accomplish the delivery of comprehensive medical care and behavioral health and well-being care. Additionally, review of active cases will occur to ensure that the best therapeutic care is provided for each program participant’s circumstances (domestic violence, chronic mental illness, and suicidal ideation) etc.
Associated Job Duties
- Inform clients of available resources and make referrals to address medical and social needs
- Facilitate WIC, insurance coverage, and care coordination referrals during the prenatal period
- Inform clients of IHS and community education classes inclusive of parenting, relationships, prenatal care, smoking cessation, drug and alcohol abuse, appropriate weight gain, SIDS, breast-feeding, folic acid/nutrition, immunizations, Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis Treatment (EPSDT), & the importance of healthy behaviors.
- Attend and present at workshops and conferences that will enhance professional development and improve services to IHS program participants and the community
- Represents Indianapolis Healthy Start on the State Maternal Mortality Review Committee and other relevant multi-disciplinarian committees
- Attend Healthy Start and Indianapolis Healthy Babies Consortium meetings
- Participates as a member of the Community Action Team (CAT)/Community Action Network (CAN) Optimal Maternal Health workgroup
- Maintains confidentiality of all client records and information as specified by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability of Act of 1996
- Trained at the appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) level
- Attend training with subsequent implementation of Bringing Back the Dads which is an evidence based curriculum currently used through the Indiana Department of Child Services to address the unique mental health needs of fathers.
- Participates in a minimal of two HOPE events, totaling a minimum of 8 hours annually
- Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises in response to public health emergencies, as directed

- Conduct depression screenings for enrollees by utilizing the Edinburgh Depression Scale as an assessment tool and conducts Stress Reduction Groups for program participants to enhance client resiliency
- Develop supportive relationships with program participants to ensure appropriate staff follow up based upon client’s risk level
- Provide services in a coordinated and culturally sensitive approach

Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family, or related human service field required.
- Current license issued by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board as one of the following: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Direct Worker, or Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
- 3 to 5 years of previous experience of progressively responsible position in a human service field with supervisory and/or clinical experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications Required
Current license issued by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board as one of the following: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Direct Worker, or Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Serves on appropriate committees and taskforces as assigned
- Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises and in the response to public health emergencies, as directed
- Participates in a minimum of two H.O.P.E. events totaling a minimum of eight (8) hours annually;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of evidence based behavior health clinical practice
- Knowledge of case management, home visitation and health education practices

- Judgment required in problem-solving/working with internal/external personnel from multiple organizational levels
- Attention to detail in documentation of client encounters

Working Environment
- Frequent local travel to perform in-home therapeutic visits
- Some physical effort associated with filing, carrying of supplies for health fairs, travel between office and meetings/ home visits
- Required to travel both in-county and out-of-county for the coordination of program initiatives
