Job Role Summary

Responsible for acting as a liaison between the patient and the physicians to prepare the patient for his/her visit. Performs clinical laboratory procedures at either the School Based Clinics or the ACTION Health Center. Provides a hard copy (chart) for patient care. Collects data for registration and intake purposes. May be required to float as technician to different facilities.


  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Effective response to stressful situations, pressures of deadlines and patient volume. 
  • Judgment required in choosing and adapting treatment processes for patients. 
  • Flexibility to respond to changing situations/priorities. 
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging patients. 

Working Enviornment

  • In-county travel to clinics, district health offices, schools, and neighborhood health centers. 
  • On-the-job duties require standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. 
  • Occasional contact with District Health Office staff to provide/obtain services for patients. 
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and infections; combative patients/families in stressful situations. 
  • Frequent contact with patients and their families.
