Job Role Summary

Under the direction of a licensed clinical staff member, the Medical Assistant position assists the providers of a health care site with the facilitation of client visits and procedures, routine laboratory tests, medication delivery, and referrals. The Medical Assistant will work hand-in-hand with the providers to achieve quality outcomes for the population of the practice site.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • A Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited teaching establishment
  • At least 2-3 years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant, preferably in a medical office or health care setting

 

 

 

Licenses/Certifications Required

  • Valid Indiana driver's license
  • Access to own vehicle and proof of automobile insurance
  • CPR and TB Skin testing within three months of hire
  • Current Indiana Certificate as a Medical Assistant

Ability in taking client vitals, perform injection/immunization procedures, phlebotomy, exam room preparation
Ability to function independently and seek supervision appropriately
Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines, set priorities, and be flexible
Ability to interact in a professional manner and effectively deal with the demands of clients, agencies, community partners, and government agencies
Ability to maintain respectful work relationships

Knowledge of :
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Infectious waste handling
Sterile techniques
Routine lab procedures and collection

Bloodborne Pathogens

Working Environment

Mental/Visual/Physical Strain

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines
  • Able to perform activities requiring manual dexterity (i.e. typing)
  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with provision of clinical client care (talking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, sitting, stooping, kneeling or crouching, lifting and carrying weights possibly up to 20lbs)
  • Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and accommodation
